New Years Resolution Success – Defining Your Why

Posted on 05. Jan, 2009 by in Interviews

So here we go, blasting into another new year. Many will have made new years resolutions. Some will have already quit, some will be going strong a while longer and some will rejoice on December 31st, 2009 knowing that they took massive action, stayed the course and kicked butt.

Which one will you be?

I used to planted firmly in the first group. I had great intentions and no follow through. The first time temptation reared it’s ugly head, I was a goner.

Eventually I graduated to the second level and it felt great to final feel the rush that came with knowing I’d stuck to something and had some success.

In late 2007 and 2008 I finally “got it” somewhat and really got clear on what I wanted out of life and the person I wanted to be. It’s like the fog had lifted or I simply saw with a different set of eyes. I’m sure it wasn’t as far out as all of that but I know what it WAS….I finally was able to take a step back and look at what I had, put what I didn’t have to the back of my mind and….I defined my why.

You can say you want to be more wealthy, thinner, have a better job, get a nicer car and all of that is fine and dandy, but it needs to be deeper than that. WHY do you want what you want.

I’ll sum up my “why” with a simple photograph and then explain a bit further in tomorrows post…..
